April 5, 2017 – Damon Harmon

In this demonstration Damon will focus on advice and tips in giving demonstrations.

Damon Harmon has been researching the resources on doing demonstrations that are at the AAW website and has volunteered to talk about the series of videos and use the advice within them to develop a demonstration. In this case, he’s planning to develop a demo about turning bowls with a faceplate rather than a chuck.

  • Our April Southern Maine Woodturners meeting was opened at 6:35pm by Roland Martin.
  • 51 members and visitors were present
  • Stan Reed announced that there were four members who won awards at the recently held Totally Turning Symposium in Sarasota, New York. Congratulations to Malcom Ray, Jeff Enck, Bill Housely, and Brian Libby!
  • Anyone who has paid their 2017 dues and are lacking their membership cards, please see David Ginsberg or Roland Martin.
  • Damon Harmon started his demonstration at approximately 6:45pm. As previously announced, he explained all the steps in successfully completing a woodturning demonstration, as laid out by the AAW. This was a great way to help our members in building confidence in demonstrating for the club. Damon finished his demo at about 8:20pm. Thank you very much, Damon.
  • Roland Martin presented the many beautiful Show and Tell turnings.
  • The evening concluded with the raffle at 8:40pm.
